A Compliment for Grant

Today was soccer practice for Grant.  One of the major differences for him this season (as opposed to the previous 3) is that he is now able to keep up with the other kids while running around.  Previously, everyone else would run circles around him.  Now, he runs like he is practically jet propelled!  After practice, his coach came up to us to say that Grant is quite a runner… and then… he said that Grant is a VERY good Goalie!  As a matter of fact, he said that Grant does things as Goalie that he would expect of 5th or 6th graders and he said that he should know because HE is a goalie in an adult league.  Wow!

Xbox Insider Interview

Here is a link to an interview that a blogger with the Seattle P-I had with a Microsoft Insider.  In the interview, the insider is asked about the “Red Ring of Death,” that I recently experienced with my Xbox 360, and some of the root causes of this affliction.  This interview claims that 30% of Xboxs will have a failure.  Unbelievable.

Good luck to all of my friends and family who own an Xbox 360… you may need it!  The good news is that it is really simple to send it back.

XBox Box Arrived Today

For those keeping track (ok, there probably isn’t anyone who IS keeping track, but I digress), my return shipping box arrived today to ship my Xbox back to MS to be fixed.  They haven’t promised turn-around time, but I’m reading online that the standard is between 4-8 weeks.  One guy got his back in 10 days… that’d be nice.  I still haven’t heard a response to my question about being compensated for time now NOT on Xbox Live.  Natalie will drop it off at the UPS Store just down from her work.  I miss my Xbox already… I’ve had to resort to playing PSone.

Whoa… Now This Would Make the Wii Cool

Although a bit on the long side, this video shows a guy (Johnny Lee?) who hacked his Wii-mote to be able to track his head position and to display a 3D image.  How cool would an immersive 3D game be where as you moved your body, the view changed?  Regular Wii kinda sucks, but that would be interesting!

Soccer Season Has Started

Posted: October 6, 2007 by jgrantmarshall in games, sports

Grant’s soccer season has started for Fall 2007! His team name is the Strikers and I think their color is light blue (there’s a game in a couple of hours and I would presume that we’ll find out sometime before then).

I created a webpage with the Strikers schedule and the URL is: http://jgrantmarshall.googlepages.com/strikersschedule2007

I hope to see you at a game!

Oregon Duck vs. Houston Cougar

OK, I’m a Duck fan, admittedly, but I find it hard to believe that they benched their mascot after the hijinks in the video above.  After watching the video, it is pretty clear to me that there was absolutely no harm done to the cougar.  The cougar was also responsible for taunting the Duck prior to this faux-beatdown by mimicking the pushups after a TD (in the Duck’s house).  The way I see it (this is my blog, afterall), we have 2 performers entertaining a stadium full of fans, some enjoyed the pushups, some enjoyed the beatdown.  So, why in the world would you suspend the Duck for showing school spirit?
